There is a small courtyard connected to the diner that was once used to keep pet chickens. It is now a wonderful show piece in the heart of the city. The diner started out as the Miss Lynn Diner and was renamed the Capitol Diner when EM Loews theater was located across the street.

The Porthole is known to host a variety of functions including both weddings and showers, each with a large selection of entrées and side dishes. The Porthole contains two separate function halls, a small room which can accommodate 20-45 people, and a larger room with a seating capacity of 46-100 people.
