Bike to the Beach Via Commuter Rail

From Memorial Day – Columbus Day the Commuter Rail reintroduces the “Bike Coach” on the Rockport Line for the summer season. Bike enthusiasts who travel to Lynn from Boston, Manchester, Gloucester or Rockport can transport their bikes with great ease and comfort and then enjoy miles of beachfront biking! A specially equipped bike coach can accommodate up to 39 bikes and 42 seated passengers will be on trains 1105/2105, 1112/2112, 1113/2113 and 1120/2120. (cost can run between $2 – $8 depending on stop).

The second largest municipal park in the United States is a 2,200 acre municipal forest park located in Lynn, Massachusetts. The Woods offers over 30 miles of scenic trails for hiking, running, horseback riding, mountain biking (not allowed during the winter), cross-country skiing, nature walks, outdoor concerts, picnics, rose garden weddings, and horticultural activities. Three active reservoirs provide pretty pond-like scenery among natural forestland.

Walk, jog and bike over 2-miles of this magnificent seascape along Lynn Shore Drive and through sand dunes and natural beach roses leading to Nahant, MA.
