Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce SCORES for Lynn Area Business Community

The Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce today announced that it has formed a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s SCORE Association.  SCORE provides professional guidance and information to maximize the success of America's existing and emerging small businesses.

The Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce, with support from the Lynn Department of Economic and Community Development and the Lynn EDIC, will host SCORE counseling sessions at the Chamber’s offices at 100 Oxford Street in Lynn.  The Chamber also plans to work with SCORE to offer seminars and workshops aimed at assisting new and existing businesses.

“We are excited to offer the Lynn Area business community the resources of SCORE and the SBA,” said Chamber Executive Director Kevin Donahue.  “Our members and those looking to start a new business will find SCORE’s services very valuable.  In addition to SCORE, and with the help of the Lynn Office of Economic and Community Development, the Chamber has opened a new Business Resource Center designed to get local business owners the information and services that they need to succeed.”

Joining the Chamber and local elected officials in making the announcement were: Maurice Dube, District Director for the SBA; Lisa Gonzalez Welch, Business Development Specialist for the SBA; Peter Colarusso, Chapter Chair and counselor for SCORE; David Connolly, Chapter Vice Chair and counselor; and Ira Dorfman, SCORE counselor.

SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 12,400 volunteers nationwide. Local chapters provide free counseling and low-cost workshops in their communities. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate their time and expertise as business counselors.

SCORE Counselors come with a wealth of experience from years of business management and ownership. Counselors come from many areas of the business world, including:  accounting, banking, engineering, human resources, law, manufacturing, marketing, real estate, retailing, insurance, sales, and more.
