Kevin Donahue’s last week at helm of LACC

Lynn Journal - Wednesday, September 5, 2007

It’s Kevin Donahue’s last week at the helm of the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) as executive director. Donahue announced his resignation last month.

The 16-year veteran of the LACC has decided to move on and will now be working for Sandler Sales Institute, a training and business development based out of Baltimore, Md., which was just recently named the Number One Management Training Franchise in America by Entrepreneur Magazine.
“I’ve had other opportunities over the years,” Donahue said.  “However, this was too good to pass up.”
Effective September 7, Donahue will leave the LACC, though his involvement with the city and its businesses won’t end.

“In the spirit of cooperation, I do not intend to leave them high and dry, and have decided that I will stick around to make sure the transition goes as smoothly as possible,” Donahue said.
The board has begun a search for his replacement.

While the company Donahue is working for is based in Maryland, he won’t be leaving the city.  “I plan on being active in the community.  I love the city and its businesses,” he said.
During his tenure, Donahue has helped usher in a new downtown.  Businesses are booming, and the city is on the cusp of accomplishing great things. “Lynn is ready to turn things around, and the Chamber was a part of that,” he said.
“I’m not going anywhere, community wise,” he explained.  “I will still be very active with such organizations as the Lions Club, and still with the Chamber. It’s just that I’ll be doing something different between 9 and 5.” He said.
Mayor Edward “Chip” Clancy said Donahue’s departure would be felt citywide.  Clancy, at a recent Chamber breakfast, pointed out Donahue’s hard work over the years and his dedication to the city and its businesses.
