A Big Hit for First Book-Lynn, MA

Baseball fans turned out in full force recently as First Book-Lynn (MA) and the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce partnered to host a private showing of the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Championship trophy. The trophy is currently traveling around the state, thanks to a joint sponsorship by the ownership of the Boston Red Sox and State Treasurer Tim Cahill.

More than 100 Chamber members were on hand to make a donation and have their photo taken with the trophy. In less than two hours, $2,000 was raised for First Book-Lynn. The truly amazing part is that this all occurred between the hours of 6:30 and 8:30 AM! "It can’t get much better than this, unless we do it again next year," stated Advisory Board Co-Chair Bill Bochnak.

Last year, the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce recognized the amazing work being done by First Book-Lynn and designated the group as their preferred local charity. In 2005, the Chamber renewed their commitment by pledging $10,000 to the local Advisory Board. The World Series trophy event was the first step in accomplishing this annual fundraising goal. Advisory Board members greeted guests, received donations, and promoted the message of First Book. One local business owner generously donated his restaurant as a venue for the event, while another added to the festivities by donating refreshments and coffee. With the continued support of area businesses and partners like the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce, the Advisory Board has the means to make a tremendous impact on the children in their community.
